I lived in Japan for a little over a year in the early 1990s. Fernandes guitars and basses were some of the nicest on the market: excellent fit, finish, and tone.

Every Fernandes I've played has had an excellent setup from the factory.Don't know why they're not more popular when brands like ESP have exploded on the market+1. They made great basses (& guitars). The older ones used to have the Fender shaped headstock & they were told to stop doing that, so now they all just have 'funny' shaped ones. The Fender style ones are the most sought after. Nowadays, Fernandes are known for their Ravelle and Vertigo body shapes, but in the 70’s & 80’s they were (in my opinion) making the best replica guitars in the world. Like Greco & Tokai, they copied the usual Les Pauls, Strats, Teles, P Bass etc. Actually I think they did them a little better than Greco.

(well not the ric )Fernandes has had a bit of a sketchy time from 2000 moving forward. My guess is they spent too much effort trying to market the Sustainer system, which really only works for a small number of players when you think about it. Or perhaps because they spent so much of their advertising on bragging about how Riggs from Rob Zombie plays their guitars. All the same its a tragedy you don't see more of them.I'm sure it's a great bass. Hang onto it if you can. I can't confirm the value, but money means nothing next to an instrument that plays and sounds great!how much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?
